Goods For Nothing

Clothing With Love Not A Price Tag

The mission of the Goods For Nothing store is to bless Milton families with good quality women, children’s, and men’s clothing and shoes, at no cost to them.

Shop

GFN started in 2009 as an outreach to women in transition who needed clothing for themselves and their children, but who didn’t have the resources to shop in the mall. We wanted to give women a place where they could feel welcomed, valued and comfortable, while getting the clothes their families need. GFN is a unique Southside community service where shoppers have the opportunity to be part of helping the community, while helping themselves; it’s a safe place to sit with a cup of coffee, share your challenges, learn work place skills, make new friends and return the blessing to others in the community. Shoppers can browse, choose what they need, knowing that we won’t charge, so they can save their money for other living expenses.

Volunteer

The mission of the Goods For Nothing store is to bless Milton families with good quality women, children’s and men’s clothing and shoes, at no cost to them. Shoppers are given the opportunity to volunteer their time in the store in exchange for learning new skills, getting work experience and being given priority-shopping opportunities. Volunteers learn to: help process and manage inventory, price clothing, create displays, sort clothes, clean up and help customers find that perfect ‘something’. They also learn to work on a team and practice language skills to build their workplace confidence.

Re-launched in 2018, at 200 Main, the store now operates on a Co-operative model (make this a clickable link). Shoppers are given the opportunity to volunteer their time in the store in exchange for learning new skills, getting work experience and being given priority-shopping opportunities.
