Frequently Asked Questions

The office is usually open Tuesday to Friday, 9am – 12pm. Many of our community partners use the building during the week, so you might see groups enjoying each other when you come by. Stop in and take a look around, you’re welcome any time!
There is limited parking on Main street in front of the church, but lots of parking behind the building on Mary Street, and there’s no fee for parking on Sundays!
Yes. If you are coming with a wheel chair or stroller, there is an elevator right inside the back doors (off Mary Street – see map) If you need a little help navigating the front entrance, a couple of us will be at the street, where there is a single car, temporary parking spot, right in front of our doors (look for the orange pylons) facing Main St. Pull up, and let us assist you!
We’re casual on Sundays and we want you to feel at home with us. So, wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Some of us wear jeans, some wear Dockers, and some of us are ‘old school’ and wear a suit now and then.
We have programs for children from birth to Gr. 5, and there are nursery facilities available during the morning service. If you leave your child in the nursery, you’ll be given a pager, so that if your child needs you during services, we will let you know. Children from Gr 1 to grade 5 go to Beloved kids before service begins. Children in Beloved kids are checked in before the service to ensure their safety. If you want your children to stay with you throughout the service, that’s fine too.
Services begin at 10:30 and finish around 11:45 (approximately 75-90 min). There are kid’s programs during the service, so if you’re coming as a family, you’ll want to arrive a few minutes early to check your children through our Safe Check In process and get them settled in their respective class.
We have a Welcome Desk that you can visit to get a map of the building and some friendly directions as to where to go. Your children should be taken upstairs when you arrive so they can be welcomed at our Safe Check In Station.
Anywhere you like! We’re often sitting at tables. That’s so we can see each other and have conversations together. If you arrive late, there are usually chairs set up close to the doors, so you can easily slip in.
Approx. 100 to 150 people of all ages regularly attend on a Sunday morning. We’re a friendly church, so expect someone to say hello! Tea and coffee, and the best home baked cookies in town, are served at the island in the kitchen before the morning services.
If you own a Bible, you’ll want to bring it. If you don’t, we’re happy to give you one! Our pastor refers to scripture often – and we encourage you to use your Bible as your life-textbook. We generally use the New International Version Bible (NIV). If you have another version you prefer, bring it along; the differences from version to version are mostly minor. Lots of us use the Youversion Bible app which allows you to choose which translation you prefer, and also has details of events at Southside.
Generally, on the 1st Sunday of each month, our services include Communion. In these services, bread and grape juice (to ensure that the table is safe for everyone) are served to remember Jesus’ death and the debt he paid for us. There is also a gluten free option available.
The bread and juice are available to anyone who believes Jesus to be their Saviour, it doesn’t matter what other church you might normally attend. Here’s our Statement of Faith if you’d like more information!
Yes. There are three ways you can give. You can contribute during our Sunday services, and if you arrive on a Sunday, and hadn’t planned on giving, no worries. You can use the Tithley app or set yourself up for Automatic Deposit.
